Welcome to 2024! It’s a new year that will be filled with new software features and enhancements. But let’s take a closer look at the video tutorials highlighting new features from the past year.
Here are the top 10 videos from 2023 available to VicinityChem, VicinityFood and VicinityBrew clients based on views and engagement. All of these videos are available on our YouTube channel with new release videos published each quarter here.
Thanks to the development team for their hard work this year. Some of these features were inspired by customer feedback and others were part of the natural evolution of the software as part of the development roadmap.
Here’s our Top 10 video tutorials from 2023:
1. Release 4.42 Business Central Available to Promise
The BC Cloud integration has been enhanced with an embedded Available to Promise screen. This screen looks at receipts and demand from Vicinity in the form of scheduled production and firm planned orders used to provide availability forecasts.
2. Release 4.42 Formula Entry Cost Rollup
Formula Entry has been enhanced with the ability to perform a cost rollup at the formula level. Additionally, the new functionality offers the option to perform a cost rollup for any intermediates. As a result, two new settings have been introduced.
The Planning Workbench has been enhanced to highlight when inventory will go negative or below the Safety Stock value in Transactional MRP.
3. Release 4.41 Planning Workbench Enhancements
4. Release 4.41 Batch Entry Undo Transaction Group
Batch Entry has been enhanced with the ability to undo multiple transactions as a single event. When a posting event occurs, it is now being created as a posting group, allowing all transactions (e.g., Procedure and BOM Usages, End Item Completions and Additional Costs) posted in that event to be undone simultaneously. Singular transactions can be excluded from the group undo.
5. Release 4.42 Scheduled MRP on Server
Historically, it has been possible to schedule the MRP regeneration to run on a daily/weekday basis. This method required keeping a client open/running to allow the scheduled regeneration to run and only allowed scheduling for a single time. It is now possible to set the MRP Regeneration to run on a schedule (multiple times a day, if desired) from the server, without requiring the Vicinity client to be open, in conjunction with Windows Task Scheduler.
6. Release 4.42 Version Check and Lock on Startup
Vicinity now verifies that the client version matches the server version on startup.
7. Release 4.43 Planned Order Refresh
The Planned Orders screen has been enhanced with the addition of a Refresh button. Previously, to refresh the data on the screen the user had to close and reopen the screen.
8. Release 4.43 Lot Number Expansion
Expanded lot number field from 25 to 50 characters.
9. Release 4.44 Value Set Orders
A functional enhancement, this feature adds the ability to control the sort order on Value Set Values.
10. Release 4.44 Undo Transaction Group Enhancement
The Undo Transaction Group Dialogue window in Batch Entry has been enhanced with the ability to Expand/Collapse the outlines of all groups with a single click. In batches where there are numerous transaction groups, this feature improves the speed of navigation.
